Yelloh Village Port de Plaisance, our favourite holiday park

Yelloh Village Port de Plaisance provides the perfect setting from which to explore this beautiful region of Brittany. This 5* landscaped holiday village provides everything you will need for a relaxing break with all the park’s amenities within easy reach of your holiday home.

The huge indoor aqua dome complex will keep your children occupied for hours with its warm waters, slides and Jacuzzi. There are additional outdoor pools with a spacious sun terrace and bar to enjoy a refreshing drink. You can leave your car keys behind as everything you need is within walking distance of your mobile home in Benodet. The ‘Vival’ mini supermarket stocks everything from everyday groceries to newspapers; guests particularly enjoy the freshly baked baguettes and croissants on a morning, Bon Appetit!

Yelloh Village Port de Plaisance

Why not enjoy a meal at the quality Le Prad restaurant located at the heart of the holiday village. Here you can select from a choice of local delicacies whilst enjoying the panoramic views from the terrace overlooking the pools, particularly spectacular at night with the ever-changing underwater pool lights. Other activities on the site include tennis, football, basketball, a boules area and beach volleyball. Our younger guests enjoy the gentle pony rides that trail around the campsite.

Port de Plaisance

The highlight for many of our visitors is the superb aerial tree-top course where you can test your agility and skill as you scale the tree tops, zip-wire over the swimming pool and clamber up the nets. Those looking to de-stress and unwind can enjoy a pampered session at the ‘Terre et Mer’ health spa. With a range of treatments available, you can leave feeling totally refreshed and invigorated. If you need to keep in touch online, you can enjoy free Wi-Fi access in the bar area. There is even the opportunity to have Wi-Fi connection from your mobile home for a small charge.

The main site reception has an excellent tourist information desk with friendly staff that can advise on the best places to visit during your stay. We will also provide details about our favourite places nearby that we highly recommend such as Concarneau, Quimper and Locronan. Holidays at Port de Plaisance are fantastic, we have visited many campsites across France and Benodet really does take some beating. So why not treat you and your family, you’re worth it!

Travelling with young children

Within easy access from the UK, Brittany is the most popular holiday destination for families travelling with young children to France.

Firstly, you need to ensure that everybody in your party has a valid passport, even a baby requires their own child passport to travel abroad. There is some effort involved but the passport will be valid for five years. Visit the Post Office website for more details,

We can highly recommend travelling with Brittany Ferries, with no restrictions on baggage allowances (other than the size of your own car-boot!), no lengthy delays in departure lounges, you can enjoy the freedom of taking your vehicle from your own front door right to the holiday accommodation, safe in the knowledge that the car is filled with everything you and your family will need during your stay. Guests often add a top-box for extra space and many families bring their own bikes; children love the freedom of cycling around the safe roads of the campsite, although bike hire is available on the park.

Brittany Ferries

Our younger passengers find the ferry crossing a real adventure, with the excitement of travelling to another country, panoramic views of the English Channel and the French culture on-board, it all makes for a memorable experience. There are many activities on most ships to keep the children occupied, including play areas, games areas, live entertainment, free Wi-Fi and a cinema. Services and facilities vary from ship to ship; you can check on-line at

Stella from Benodet Breaks travelled last summer when her baby was 12 weeks old; ‘we travelled with Brittany Ferries and the staff on-board could not have been more helpful. We mentioned at check-in that we had a young baby and they ensured we had plenty of room around our vehicle to get out the baby car-seat, changing bag, overnight bag etc. We headed straight for our cabin where for a small charge we had also reserved a travel cot for our overnight sailing; it was all prepared in the cabin, complete with bedding and sheets’.

Daytime cabins can be booked from £22 per crossing and we find it’s money well spent. It’s great to have a private room to change nappies, feed etc and have a shower and freshen up if you get the chance. For those that choose to travel without a cabin, there are changing facilities onboard and a microwave for warming your babies’ feeds.

At Camping Port de Plaisance Benodet, travel cots, bed rails and high-chairs can all be reserved for you. Please book these when you confirm your holiday with us as we have a limited number for hire. You will need to bring your sheets and bedding for your baby.

With a little careful planning, travelling with small children shouldn’t be too onerous; plan ahead and allow enough time for toilet and meal stops. The only complaint that we get from the parents is that there is so much for the children to do once they arrive at the Port de Plaisance resort that they can’t get them off the campsite!

Bon Vacances en famille.

Benodet Mobile Home Holidays

Family Matters!

When considering a mobile home holiday in Brittany, what do you need to take into account to ensure that you have the perfect holiday for you and your family?

“A fantastic resort with plenty to do”, would be the reply from most families and well as modern holiday homes which offer home to home comforts and value for money.

The combination of the 5-star Benodet Port de Plaisance parc, which is fast gaining a reputation as one of the best parcs in Brittany, and Benodet Breaks, a family company specialising in new, spacious mobile home rentals in Brittany, is unbeatable for families looking for the very best quality holiday homes in Benodet Port de Plaisance.

Many families prefer the personal advice offered by smaller companies and of course the caring on-site couriers can make a huge difference to the holiday experience.

The Davis family from Somerset were looking for a Brittany mobile home rental and choose to stay with Benodet Breaks in June. They were pleased to receive sound, personal advice prior to confirming the booking and were full of praise when they returned; “All the little homely touches were noticed and made such a difference. The kitchen facilities were amazing for a mobile home. The location was ideal and not crowded by other mobile homes; our own special woodland glade. Your couriers are a huge asset to your company and make sure everything ticks over as it should”.

Booking a holiday with a family company has many advantages compared to travelling with the very large companies, says Steve Jackson of Benodet Breaks. “For example, we all know the region, parcs and holiday homes intimately so have a great deal of experience to offer prospective travellers” he said. “This combined with brand new mobile homes in Benodet which are appointed to the very highest standard, is one reason why we have such a high return rate of highly satisfied clients”.

Driving in France

Driving in France

The vast majority of our guests travel by ferry to Brittany, usually with Brittany Ferries via the entry ports of Roscoff, St.Malo, Cherbourg or Caen. This enables them to enjoy an independent, relaxing self-drive holiday in France in a familiar vehicle with the opportunity to visit many of the local beaches, towns and attractions.

Driving in France is generally easy as the roads are well maintained and the towns are well sign-posted. Remember to have your driving licence and car insurance certificate with you at all times. There are a few essential items that you need to carry with you whilst driving in France to ensure that you are legal and will avoid any on the-spot-fines. These include:

  • Spare bulb kit and headlight adapters
  • Reflective safety jacket / vest and warning triangle
  • Breathalysers (Twin pack)

These items can be bought on-line, for example ‘The AA Shop‘ or onboard most ships if you are travelling with Brittany Ferries.

To travel to our mobile homes in Brittany, be sure that you have enough fuel for your onward journey in France; many garages are closed on Sundays and don’t always take UK cards at the pump. There is a petrol station in Benodet at the Carrefour supermarket within 400 metres of the Yelloh Village Camping du Port de Plaisance resort.

Your UK car insurance should give you third party cover whilst driving in France. We would highly recommend contacting your provider and ensuring that you have adequate cover for your time abroad.

We advise that you make sure that you have the necessary items to ensure that your mobile home holiday in France goes as smoothly as possible.  Happy packing!

Exploring Quimper

Whilst staying in Benodet a visit to Quimper, the cultural heart of Finsitere, is an absolute “must-do” for any visitor to this area. This charming medieval town is located just 15 minutes drive from the resort of Benodet. The Rivers O’det and Steir pass through the city and are crossed by many bridges, beautifully be-decked with a wonderful array of flower boxes all season long. The O’det then continues onto Benodet, where its’ estuary meets the sea. Why not take a relaxing boat trip from Benodet marina and enjoy the views of the forests and chateaux as you gently travel towards Quimper? For those looking for adventure, there is also the option to kayak the 16km instead.O'det

This thriving city has much to offer for a cultural day out, including its magnificent cathedral, regarded as the best example of Gothic religious architecture in the area. This impressive building is set at the heart of the city, with its plaza surrounded by restaurants and bustling cafes, you will find no shortage of places to eat. Explore the narrow streets with their half-timbered houses, here you will find many creperies, enjoy a savoury or sweet crêpe, ideally accompanied with a glass of refreshing Breton cider.  Adjacent to the cathedral is the Musée Départmental Breton; this museum will reveal the history, art and culture of this legendry region and includes a fine collection of traditional Breton costume and furniture.Quimper

There is plenty of shopping to be enjoyed whether in the small boutiques in the city centre, or the enormous hypermarkets situated on the outskirts of the city. Our favourites include Geant and Carrefour. There is also a huge Decathlon that caters for every sport you can imagine; a great place to pick up wetsuits and body boards for the beach.  The weekly Quimper market take place each Wednesday and Saturday, ensure you get here early to secure a parking space.

The Festival de Cornouaille is an annual celebration of all things Breton and is held each July in Quimper. More details about this event can be found at the Tourist Office and the live music events are well worth a visit.
